Call, email, or go to our contact page and fill out the form. We will contact you for a consultation and possibly schedule a site inspection.
We will inspect the damage that occurred to your property and sit down with you and explain the process. No strings attached. No obligation. We promise.
Once it’s established that there is adequate damage and a “case” so to speak, and you are 100% on board, a contract and notice of representation are signed. All paperwork will be explained to you in detail and to your full understanding.
Additionally, please note the "Client Login" section on our website available through the main menu. In addition to being included in all possible claims communication, as our client, you'll have access to our client portal to review full updates of your claims status.
If your claim has caused you to become displaced from your normal residence, we can recommend services that will place you in temporary living arrangements (typically covered by your policy).
Typically during your inspection we photograph the damage in detail and take all necessary measurements and notes regarding your loss. At this point we will compile an estimate to fully repair your damages and provide you with copies of all paperwork we send to the insurance company.
Most policies require you to compile lists of personal property or contents that were damaged or destroyed. While we need your help and expertise to identify and catalog your damaged personal property, we are equipped to make the process move more quickly and easily than if you had to tackle this seemingly endless task alone.
We will then file the claim with your insurance company (if it is a new claim), send your insurer our representation paperwork, and send your insurer our estimate with photos and any other documentation appropriate for your claim.
This point is typically when the Insurance company sends their adjuster to scope the damage and compile their own estimate for damages. We will make sure their adjuster is aware of all of the damages and any pertinent information regarding the repair of your property.
This portion of the claim can take anywhere from a few hours to a few months and is dependent on the efficiency of your insurance company, the efficiency and professionalism of the insurer’s adjuster, the complexity and size of the claim, etc. The insurance claims process revolves around justification. When we compile an estimate we will provide justifications for every line item in the estimate with documentation for everything as it relates to the policy and the repair process. If the insurance company disagrees with our estimate then it is incumbent upon them to justify why they do not agree with our estimate or portions of our estimate. For most policies and states, the insurance company has the legal burden to prove an exclusion. However, the claims on policies where the policyholder has the burden to prove the loss, we document the damage and consult the policyholder about hiring experts to support the loss, if needed.
When an agreement is made for a final settlement and approved by you, the insurance company will issue a check by mail typically within days to a few weeks after an agreement is forged.
Ultimately, the policyholder (i.e. you) has the final say as to whether to accept a final settlement with the carrier.
When both sides have dug in their feet and cannot come to an agreement about the amount of loss, the appraisal process or litigation are the next step in the process.
Insurance appraisal is not appraisal in the truest sense of the word - how you'd think of real estate appraisal or jewelry appraisal. Insurance appraisal is more akin to an informal arbitration.
No one wants the time and expense of a lawsuit, but not all claims are appropriate for appraisal. For fully denied claims, litigation is the only option for redress in most jurisdictions.
